February 6, 2012 - We got to Loon Lake about 9:30am and the fog was too thick to even see the lake. Just minutes later, it started thinning and the view was breathtaking.

Taken at the wetlands where the Lower Smith River converges with the Umpqua before emptying into the ocean further on down in Winchester Bay.

These two photos are sunrise and sunset on the same day. Normally, our sunsets are much more colorful than our sunrises (when we get to see a sunrise, that is) but January 28th was the exception....

I kept having trouble with my gate unlatching and blowing in the wind. This morning I heard a bang that I thought the gate had unlatched yet again and when I went down to fix it this is what I saw!...

Contrails made for an interesting sunset. What started as a stairway of sorts, soon became an abstract painting in the sky.
